Scorcher on its way home

The nostalgia Top Fuel Dragster “Scorcher” is headed back home to Australia. Scorcher which carried the first Australian Ash Marshall to 200mph on 1st February 1969 has spent the last two years in California after undergoing a full restoration in 2008.

Current California resident and owner Dennis Young along with Sydney chassis builder and friend George Bukureshliev have been regular participants in the very popular Cacklefest display during the California Hotrod Reunion at Famoso Raceway in Bakersfield.

Now Dennis and George are bringing Scorcher home to Australia to fill your nostrils with nitro and light up the night sky with its header flames. Scorcher is being shipped to Australia with the help of their friends at Peter Leahy Custom Imports in Brisbane and should be back in Sydney in time for the Nitro Champs at Sydney Dragway.

George along with fellow Cackle car owner Ross Preen are in negotiations with Sydney Dragway to perform a night time Cacklefest at the Nitro Champs in May. Several other Nostalgia nitro cars will be present to put on a show you won’t want to miss.

“After the Nitro Champs we hope to take Scorcher to other tracks like Willowbank Raceway. Several owners of the car after Ash Marshall in the 70’s were from Queensland so we would like to show the fans up there this piece of drag racing history” George commented.

Scorcher’s tour of Australia is proudly supported by the following companies.
Scorcher Enterprises Australia, Sydney
Load Maximizer, Los Angeles USA
Peter Leahy Custom Imports, Brisbane
