Bishop was one of 15 Doorslammers in Perth for the Westernationals and round five of the ANDRA Pro Series Championship, and lined up against eventual event runner-up Judd for Round 1 after qualifying seventh for the eight-car field with a 6.079s at 237.46mph pass on Saturday evening.

While Judd would go on to face defending Doorslammer champion John Zappia in the Final, Bishop was able to demonstrate that he still has the speed and power that has seen him set down 2 five second passes, with a 6.003 elapsed time at 247.25 miles per hour.

“It was a interesting weekend,” reflected Bishop.

“I think the whole crew did a good job – we were pretty close there against ‘Juddy’. I feel we nearly beat him but unfortunately nearly is not good enough!

“It was one of those things, we had a few issues over the weekend with the clutch giving us curry and we changed the engine overnight after qualifying.

“The crew did a great job pulling it all together for round one, I was happy with the run and to be the fastest Top Doorslammer at the event was great – its a good pay off for all the work everyone put in.

“I believe the timesheets say we ran 200 miles per hour to half track as well, which should make us the fastest Top Doorslammer ever to half track, which I am pretty proud of!”

Also on track for Stuart Bishop Racing at the weekend was Junior Dragster driver Cody Grohn aboard the ‘Junior Jem’.

Grohn is fighting it out at the top of the Junior Dragster championship ladder and despite a second-round knock out this weekend, is still in the hunt with three rounds remaining.

Straight after his last run for the night, Grohn was off to the airport for the red-eye back to Brisbane alongside the rest of the SBR crew. Although, unlike the crew who were off to work, the 18 year old was destined for his first day of an engineering degree at a Brisbane university today.

Stuart Bishop Racing now turns their focus to Sydney, for the 2010 Nitro Champs (30 April – 2 May) at Sydney Dragway, which will host the penultimate round of the 2009/2010 ANDRA Pro Series Championship for Top Doorslammer before the season final at the Castrol EDGE Winternationals at Willowbank Raceway over June 10-13.
