Hidden Valley Track Championship down to the wire

The finale of the 2011 Track Championship Series at Hidden Valley Drag Strip is sure to see competitors pushing their vehicles to their limits as the points chase comes down to the final round of the year.

Each of the top three Outlaw competitors have obtained two finals berths a piece during the season, resulting in the front runners of Dieter Herrmann, Craig Davis and Derreck Sperrer being separated by a mere 15 points. A win would be all the more special for Herrmann who virtually destroyed the same 1990 Camaro at its debut event in 2009 after a horrific accident that he miraculously walked away from. With a total of 30 points available for the round win, fourth place holder Dennis Baylis also has an outside chance.

Modified Bike is also set to be a four way battle with David Denner, Heath Costello, Colin Sainsbury and Leith Darrach all in with a chance to take out the 2011 crown. Denner is sitting on equal first with Robert Harrison but Harrison retired last month after an ongoing hip injury. Only 5 points separate Denner from second place holder Costello.

The Champion of Champions trophy, awarded to the competitor with the most overall points of the season, is also hinging on the outcome of Saturday night with four competitors all having the potential to secure the coveted award.  Street Bike rider, Geoff Hawkins, goes into the final round sitting on 115 however Junior Dragster competitor Jodie Coles is within striking distance on 105 points.

Should Coles and Hawkins falter, Super Sedan and Super Street both have willing participants waiting in the wings with Allan Arthus and Shaun Boyer both sharing 85 points.

This will be the last chance to see competition drag racing for 2011 at Hidden Valley Drag Strip.

Gates open 2pm with qualifying getting under way at 3pm before the featuring racing from 7pm.
