Banjo gets blown

While most other parts of Australia are suffering from constant rain, yet another drag car is heading North to make a new home at Hidden Valley Drag Strip, last month it was a new Top Alcohol Funny Car leaving the US destined for the shed of Jay Henning, this time it’s a Chevy Camaro recently purchased by Troy Wittwer.

Troy Wittwer, owner/operator of Banjo’s Towing, is no stranger to fast cars. Wittwer already owns a 1968 Camaro that he intends to continue racing in the Super Sedan bracket in 2012, but this time with a shot of nitrous oxide rammed down its throat.

The new Camaro was purchased minus an engine and gearbox but a new 540ci V8 and Lenco gearbox are already on order and set to be installed between the chassis rails. Sitting high above the Rodeck block will be a 14/71 supercharger that is sure to get the Chev moving.

A new paint job is also planned before its maiden voyage.

Wittwer hopes to debut the new car later in the 2012 season.
