Keyboard warrior to drag strip rookie

Many people would know Jamie Robertson as a regular on the Thursday night chat on Dragnews but now he is taking the big step from keyboard warrior to a seeing how the other half live by becoming a racer.

Robertson said the path to the strip began last year when he saw an old altered body at a friend’s house that his dad owned 27 years ago.

It even still had the same paint on it, so Robertson decided to purchase the body back and then gave it to his Dad as a birthday present. It all served to reignite the fire of racing.

“A few weeks later we sourced an altered chassis and body in Adelaide and got it sent up to Sydney,” he said. “We have been sourcing bits and pieces all around for it.

“Good mate Barry Rollinson was called in to build the 350 4-bolt withHilborn stack injection and a Powerglide and Adrian O’Donnell  did the awesome paint job.

“Performance Diff Services in Queensland built the diff centre and Diff Trans mounted the diff.

“We are hoping for eights out of it once sorted and it will be racing in the not too distant future.

“Additional thanks to Dave Right, the Trinder Bros, mum, dad, Skye, Richard and Shane.”

In the mean time Robertson has been in training running his little nitrous Corona in Street Fighter at Sydney Dragway before making the plunge into a serious race car.
