The Season Finale ended on a high on Saturday night with the competition drag racing season coming to a close for 2013.

Luck was with Dwight Brieffies in a classic 1964 Ford Fairlane who made the leap to Top Sportsman for the event.

Scheduled to battle against a range of vehicles running 8.99sec or quicker Brieffies had a lucky progression when his opponents, Paul Newman and Ron Heyes broke, giving Brieffies a clear run through to the finals against Brad Hagen.

Luck was again on Brieffies side where Hagen red lit, handing Brieffies his first win of 2013 with a best of 8.914 at 151.73mph.

Unfortunately luck wasn’t with everyone on the night. Street Bike rider Madeline Joy-Warde took a tumble early in the night after her 650cc Suzuki lifted the front wheel soon after leaving the startline.  Joy-Warde impacted heavily with the wall and was transported to hospital for further treatment suffering leg injuries.

In a traditional GM versus Ford rivalry Craig Davis took out the Outlaw win in his Ford Mustang against the Pontiac of Todd Knight. Davis defeated Todd Knight with a holeshot off the startline and finished with a 7.147 to Knight’s 7.166.

Defeated by a slower reaction time was the stand out red Mopar of Tony Kantros who passed the win to Peter Kirkpatrick in the Super Sedan finals.

Kirkpatrick quick reaction of 0.037sec and a 9.349sec pass secured the victory against Kantros’ 10.057sec pass on a 10.00 dialin.

In other brackets Daniel Richardson took out his first win of the season in Street Bike after Mark Tattingham red lit on the startline. While Tattingham wasn’t victorious it was enough to secure the Champion of Champions trophy for 2013, awarded to the competitor with the highest cumulative points for the season.

Shaun Boyer also secured the Super Street championship with a win against Troy McGregor. Out of three battles this year Boyer remained undefeated against McGregor. While McGregor red lit, Boyer still ran a near unbeatable 11.665 on an 11.660 dialin.

Street car was a rookie affair with Skevos Troumouliaris defeating Harley Gray while in Junior Dragster it was a very close race between Danielle Abel and Maddison Sperrer. Abel defeating Sperrer with a 10.157 on a 10.05 dialin against Sperrer’s 8.629 on an 8.5 dialin.

Off Street Racing and the end of year burnout competition will feature this Friday night at Hidden Valley Drag Strip with nearly $1,000 up for grabs.
