Shane Weston had to be taken to Royal Perth Hospital following a serious crash last night at Perth Motorplex.

Weston had just completed a 5.59 second pass at 387kph when the parachutes failed to deploy on his Top Alcohol dragster. The dragster went into the sand trap and flipped nose to tail, coming into contact with the walls and ended upside down in the sand.

Weston was able to walk away from the car but went straight to the waiting ambulance, with a very sore back and abdominal and leg pain.

The team passed on their thanks to everyone for their thoughts and help after the meeting packing up their race trailer and belongings.

The team updated followers on Shane’s condition today, explaining that it has not changed and the CT scan was inconclusive. He is awaiting an MRI scan which is expected this afternoon. Shane is heavily medicated at the moment for the pain and still fasting.
