Summit Racing Equipment Junior Dragster racer Daniel ‘BatDan’ Carranza (South Morang, Victoria) has come a long way since making his debut at the 43rd Westernationals in 2014.

Although still looking for his first Summit Racing Equipment Sportsman Series win, he first visits Warwick Dragway November 28-29 following his first Series runner up in Portland.

He then returns to Mildura Sunset Strip – the site of his first ever event win of any kind in the regional 660 Series this past Easter – on December 4-5.

Flush with racing experience from all over Australia, a TV appearance, sponsors and the Summit Racing Equipment Junior Dragster points lead, the Carranza family is in buoyant mood heading into back-to-back race meetings.

“Heaps has happened and is happening with Batdan!” said father Eddy Carranza.

“Since being on Channel Ten’s The Project, we’ve landed three sponsors; Lee Meehan Roofing from Gold Coast, KC Tools and Penrite Oils.

“Repco South Morang are also helping us out with servicing our cars and supplying us with bits and pieces to help us drive to the tracks.

“Matt from Vinyl Wraps & Graphics is giving us great deals with laminating our transporter, motorhome and Daniels car.”

Racing to raise awareness for Autistic kids, BatDan will soon come to the end of his time in the C/Junior class before stepping up to B/Junior in January with a new car on the way potentially in time for the Australian Nationals at Calder Park.

“Our plan is to do all the race meets all the way till the end of the season. Win or lose we are having a ball travelling to the tracks in our new Winnebago motorhome.

“Come the new year Daniel will run as a B/Junior and will debut his new Half Scale Junior Dragster soon to arrive in January with all the bells and whistles, which should take him all the way to A/ Junior.

“He is excited and looking forward to racing at home track Calder Park where all his family and friends can finally come and see him race.”

The Summit Racing Equipment Sportsman Series first visits Warwick Dragway this weekend November 28-29 before heading south to Mildura Sunset Strip December 4-5.
