The first round of the new Cruzin’ Nostalgia Drags Series between Willowbank Raceway and Sydney Dragway has been contested with everyone getting their rockabilly on at Willowbank on February 27.

As usual the retro-event attracted a wide range of machines of different vintages and configurations including the attention seeking injected nitro “Fossil Fueler” FED of Graham Slapp.

The Fossil Fueller that is very much in the development stage rattled off some mid sevens in Top Eliminator and hopefully Slapp will venture south to Sydney to see the FED mix it up with the local blown Nitro contingent. We think the Top Eliminator class was taken out in the end by Les Rodgie’s Dodge Challenger funny car over Fred Westoff’s FED, but the results are a little unclear.

Likewise for the rest of results, I hope we have made correct sense of the available numbers.

In Wild Bunch Sini Sveiger’s blown hatchback Torana was the beneficary of a redlight out of Kaylene Gourley’s blown LC Torrie. While in the other quick sedan class -Top Gas – the old stager himself George Wegener put the Corolla in to the winners circle once again over Pete Whitbourne.

Nostalgia Super Stock went too Luke Stitz, and Stock saw Terry Evans smack his 11.52 dial in to beat Rod Thomas. Neal McLeod had the little altered on song running down Chris Reid’s roadster in the Middle Eliminator class for open cars.

The Camaro of Mark Rossow was near perfect with his dial in to beat Phil Penny’s wild little Honda to the stripe in Street Machine. One of nostalgia racings most travelled in Noel Inman received a pay off for the effort winning Hot Rod over Grant Carpenter.

Rounding out the classes and Brett Copping defeated Isaac Smith in Classic Bike and Peter Grant travelled up from NSW to claim the HAMSter prize over Barry Hartshorne.
