Did anyone win the Winters and if so how was it calculated?

Did anyone win the Winters and if so how was it calculated?

I have looked at all the areas that I know and cannot find if anyone won the 50th Winternationals and if so how they calculated it. Willowbank just has blanks against the categories and 400 Thunder only has the Perth results from last year or directs you to the 2016 Willowbank results page.

There seems to be a major lack of information from all concerned about this and most other things going on in the drag racing in Australia.

If you look at 1320 go off willowbanks website, at the date of 06-10-2017 ,  group one only ran qualifying and some sportsman classes ran one round. My understanding is that they cancelled the meet so no winners awarded, which makes sense especially in group one with no elimination runs ran.

That appears to be the case but I have seen photos with people holding Winternationals 50th Anniversary trophies so still unsure

It looks like the trophies that were handed out were for the 2016/2017 400 Thunder Champions, not for the Winternationals winners.

It just shows a complete lack of information from Willowbank & 400 Thunder. I thought they were trying to improve on ANDRA but in this area they are way off the mark.

Agreed with the lack of info.

I've emailed - Facebook messaged, etc 400 Thunder and no one has even replied to me.

IMO this is very very poor and I don't know any other sporting organisation that would just ignore any requests.

Ah well, the more things change, the more they stay the same.

I believe that since the event was cancelled, there were no winners. The trophies that were handed out were for the Championship.

I have to agree that the lack of communication from 400 Thunder/IHRA is quite poor for an organisation that is trying to bring new life to Drag Racing.
The fact that they don't have a calendar out yet BUT are promoting the July event in Darwin makes you wonder whats going on. Sydney Dragway website also has the November dates in for the usual 'East Coast Thunder' event. Makes it kinda hard to plan your racing season.

Re: Did anyone win the Winters and if so how was it calculated?

I am yet to see any racing on the T.V. this year, maybe I've missed it, but I don't see it advertised anywhere. I harped on about this problem of no advertising and/or promotion in earlier posts, even suggested ways that would cost next to nothing to do. Here's one. Santo is famous for his feasts..... get him on master chef, or even better yet, 60 minutes, or a serious doco on Santo (Phillips, Bray's, Splatt, Tremaynes or Zappia) and his achievements, THAT could be a movie in itself! How about the Bray's on biggest loser, (is that show even still running?), or Survivor.
There's absolutely nothing to capture the public attention, we know very little about the teams, their backgrounds, the cars or even the struggles on how they survive to race the next race' there has to be some great stories in there.
Also, I'm confused about how you run a serious championship under 2 different sanctioning bodies, anybody else scratching their head on that one?? I lose track of who's or what is going on because of the time (sometimes months) between some races, maybe a shorter more intense 7 - 9 round season could solve that, These are just ramblings on my part, not meant to be offensive. Cheer's y'all
