Ridgeway returns

Four-time Australian Pro Stock Champion Peter Ridgeway will make his long awaited return to the category at the upcoming Castrol EDGE Winternationals.

Ridgeway and partner John O’Kearney will debut the brand new RO’K Racing Holden Monaro, built by Don Ness Race Cars in the US.

The car has been in Australia for over two years, but its debut was delayed while the team worked on its own engine program, those close to Ridgeway commenting “they now have enough power to play”.

The team spent two days at Willowbank testing the car last week, performing a number of shakedown launches and 330ft passes, each one quicker as Ridgeway re-familiarised himself with the driving duties after a five year hiatus.

Trackside observers said the car was impressive and, all things going to plan, should figure prominently at the Winternationals.

Ridgeway’s return to the sport comes as the Pro Stock category races towards the six second zone.

Coincidentally, Ridgeway’s debut in the class in the 1990s came at a time when Pro Stock competitors were trying to break into the seven second zone – Ridgeway ultimately winning that race.
