Best season yet for Brennan

Iluka’s Maurice Brennan will reflect on the 2009/10 Australian Drag Racing season as his best yet, officially carving a deep notch in motorsport history as the World’s Quickest Commodore.

Claiming both the top speed and quickest elapsed time records in the hotly contested AA/AP Competition Eliminator category, Brennan was able to tick the box for two of the team’s most desired goals ahead of schedule.

“It’s been an amazing season with setting the records and finishing second in the state championship, but you don’t achieve milestones like that without wonderful racing partners and we’re very fortunate to have phenomenal support from Crown Integrated Systems and Joondalup Carpet Court,” a reflective Brennan said.

Despite a relatively uneventful visit to the Winternationals in Queensland last weekend, Brennan was already excited about the next season, hinting that the Boomeracing team may step up into the famed Top Doorslammer category.

“The ultimate dream for us is to compete in Doorslammer, and with the car still overweight and with the team being so switched on in their work ethic and understanding of the car, I think the opportunity to step up to Group One would be a fitting next step in our journey.”

“We have a world class facility in your own backyard with the Perth Motorplex, and we will host two rounds of the National Championship next season, so I think our sponsors and fans deserve to be a part of racing at the next level and we’re going to do everything we can to make that happen.”

“The off season will include a complete overhaul of the car to nail some rear end issues and find some places to take out some weight. Adaptable Smash Repairs are keen to spray a new PPG colour scheme with assistance from AMPCAP, so the car will keep up its reputation of looking different every season. Watch this space!” an excited Brennan announced.
