The Top End’s 2010 farewell special

The finale of the 2010 Northern Territory drag racing season is set to play out at Hidden Valley Drag Strip on Saturday 3 July with entrants received in all competition drag racing classes.

The event will see an action packed line up with the fire breathing, wheel standing Aussie Bandit set to make its Territory debut.

“The Aussie Bandit features a 1700 horsepower supercharged big block V8 mounted in the back of a custom built Holden VE ute,” said driver Nigel Benson.

“It has a sound that has to be heard, fire shows that ignites the sky with three metre flames and by night – blue methanol flames pop like a top fuel dragster from the V8’s exhaust.”

The Aussie Bandit is purpose-built to do full track wheel stands and has pulled a 10 second pass on only two wheels.

Competition drag racing is also set to return for a one night show including the pre-entry of NT Top Doorslammer driver Matt Abel.  Abel is currently competing on the ANDRA Pro Series circuit and will be debuting his newly acquired Ford BA Top Doorslammer.

The Phil Kerr Service Centre Burnout Comp will also farewell the night with cash and prizes up for grabs for the toughest burnouts Darwin has to offer.

Pre-nominations are now open by contacting Hidden Valley Drag Strip at www.hiddenvalleydrags.com
