When O’Rourke Motorsport’s Grant O’Rourke heads to Adelaide International Raceway this weekend for the ANDRA Grand Final, he will have one last try to snatch the Top Doorslammer title away from reigning and eight-time champ John Zappia.

With 90 points separating the pair, O’Rourke needs to win the event and have Zappia not turn up on the weekend to take the crown. The Brisbane-based West Aussie says while the odds may not be especially in his favour, he and his team will still be throwing everything at it.

“We are confident we can win the event,” said O’Rourke.

“It is a pity we couldn’t finish the final at Calder Park Raceway, as it would have created a closer run to the finish line of the championship,” said O’Rourke, referring to the last round of the championship which saw the final abandoned due to the conditions.

“I am very happy with the performance of the team and the car this season, and completely overwhelmed by the support we have received to run at AIR where we have had some success in the past.

“We may not be able to win the championship, but we will leave no stone unturned and are just pleased to be in this position to try.

“As we do so, we hope to put on a great show for the fans in a fitting end to the ANDRA drag racing season.”
