It was great event but if Winters is the pinnacle and than follow Nitro Champs, how can we get the Australia Nats back to be the pinnacle because it should be the number one event for year, maybe a move to Calder Park Melbourne.Australia Nats in Melbourne will attract huge crowd and the atmosphere will be awesome and you know it will smashed the crowd size at Sydney on Sunday.Sydney had many years to exceed for Aust Nats and have fail on crowd size every year but they have put on great racing but the most important bit is crowd size and that's wasn't good enough on weekend.
If NHRA wants to go back 1320 to help increase fan attendance they are mistaking wrong. Just look over to Nascar one of the biggest sport in the USA and over the past 5 years they had the biggest drop off in attendance up to 35% less people not showing up to their races. The low attendance got nothing to do with 1000ft racing its more about the economics and how family's and peoples spending their hard earn cash.
Team owners and drivers in the Top Fuel and Funny Car divisions believe racing to the 1,000' mark is safer and more cost effective. So why NHRA even thinking about going 1320,sorry that was in the past and now we in the future 2014.Also going back 1320 wouldn't the oildown stats will increase. We will see more and more oil downs and crashes which actually increase down time at track so spectators will be watching the tractors quite a bit rubbing track.1000 foot racing over the years have seen some off the best racing produce from teams.
But the most important I see not going back to 1320 is the concerned about safety and theirs no way can someone say 1320 can be safer to race than 1000ft?When you run a extra 100 meters the chance of some-think goes wrong multiplies drastic. This just my opinion.
In my opinion Calder Park wins hands down to host Grand final even should get the Australia Nats back,it always attracting the largest crowds in country,Melbourne was always the best.Someone suggest Adelaide had better facilities come on?.
Willowbank has Winters and Easter rnd, Sydney have Aust Nats and Nitro champs,Perth has 3 major events and imagine Perth had grand final the Eastern states people will cry poor?Darwin is to far away and doesn't attract a crowd yet,Adelaide could no way handle something that big yet so that's left Calder Park the only track cable holding the last event of year at the home of Dragracing.
By next year in December you think there be improvements will be done to facilities?Someone suggests Calder sportsman pits being jam packed, remember Calder got a whole infield off circuit track to host sports pits. Why are people still against drag racing running at Calder? At one stage people say they would nether return if racing happens their? If we did a survey now wonder how many are changing their minds about that comment now?
Always going have set backs and improvements when starting a new track or exciting one but Andra and Calder got 14 months till Grand finals. That's a lot of time to prepare for the event. Also what track in Australia is the most central for race teams and most important the paying public?Calder and thats why its a winner to host Grand final hands down.
Ps Australia Nats haven't been the same since it leave Calder Park and the hey days can be return with Calder Park raceway hosting Australia Nats and Grand final.Bring back the Australia Nats home(Melbourne)
No track in Aust can compete for the atmosphere and wow factory off Calder Park and that can return
With these round know run and done, what are peoples thought's on Calder holding the final round in Championship next season?
Can Calder hold an event off this scale? It's great to see Calder back on the calendar but I don't think it should be running the final round so soon with a green track and with some groups only running 1000ft.
Yes This was the first event and you always going have problems.Look at Air theirs improvements to the facility every single meet.Melbourne will attract huge crowds and put drag racing in the city of sports, which will create many positive for the sport.
Whats are some improvements whould you like to see done before next championship round?
1.someone said lighting to car park?maybe 2 portable lights
2.Is their room in staging lanes to have a burn out pad(cheap way to entertaing crowd)and who doesnt like burnouts
3.was their a large tv screen their for repays and promotion?
4.was the pit lay out could be better?
5.How was the ticket box?
6.No one allowed to stand next to wall from 30m to sand trap?
Did Calder Deliver? Was this what Australia drag racing needs to have champship dragracing back at the home of sports(Melbourne).
Watch the reaction on their face, which Australia dragracing have been missing.Loss huge amount spectors from Melbourne?
What do you throught off meet?
Championship racing back home at Calder raceway, lets dont lose this again?Calder is a major puzzle to exceed
Now lets not kid ourself the decline in attendance isn't 1000ft, theirs has been a major decline in attendance and also in all other major sports in the USA. Nascar for the last 5 years are seeing big drops in attendance. Nascar were usally getting 100000 but now only atrracting 70-80000 to events and major leage baseball also seeing drops in attendance for the past 5 years. Its more got to do with familys being bit more carefully with their fiance now days.
Also this survey is a miss survey, you will get 9/10 people will say they want 1/4 racing but dont really understand why it went 1000ft.So you can throw that survey in the bin.Isnt this funny teams didnt want go 1000ft and nhra push it and now nhra trying push a return to 1/4 and racers dont want too, makes me laugh.
That's the biggest joke of the centry. Insurance and safety is a concern and also what will the cars run in 1/4 , this must be April fools day early.
Is Andra doing everything they can to promote up coming Andra events? I keep hearing all about this upcoming Outlaw Nitro Funny Cars & APSA Finals at Sydney Dragway on the November 23 but I hear very little about up coming Australia Nats which are 3 weeks before outlaw event. Is it time to maybe Andra get involved with promoting their events to attract the best possible crowd?
Could Andra maybe start a lever for Andra events? say group 1 put in $100 and sportsman $50 which equal around $20000 which is small but also Andra can put funds in too. I know isn't the racer fault and now have to once again fork out money like the tv lever but it also could help to attract bigger crowds and sponsors to drag racing generally.
Does anyone think Andra is doing every think possible to promote events because I see Andra marketing strategy can be way better in my opinion. Look at Melbourne is holding their first every Andra Rnd at Calder for very long time in about 2 weeks times, but has anyone seen tv ads, radio ads or promotion for this event anywhere?
Could Andra and track say on the upcoming nats on the Friday (which attracts no one for crowd size)can give away free tickets for that night?Go to all schools plus factory's and give away free tickets 40000 and see what the out come is?But also need to add a qfl pro rnd into fri program.
What do you think are some things need to improve to promoting Andra events?
Great ad for upcoming outlaw Nitro funny car event. Just curious is the Australia Nats event got some-think similar like that up, which is before this outlaws event?
If not how can Andra or Sydney can attract a crowd to up coming Australia Nats when they are promoting a event thats is after the Nats. This is where I believe(Marketing) Andra and tracks is letting down the Sponsor,Racers and Spectators,Andra really needs to look at their Marketing strategy more?Maybe is time to give away free tickets away to get 20000 plus at tracks to bring those new spectators in.But really need a better system to promote event in my opinion.
Ps Its about 2 1/2 weeks to go for nitro thunder event at calder in Melbourne.Has anyone from Melbourne seen Tv Ads or advertizing for event?
I see the new Outlaw Nitro Funny Car Series has appointed Steve Bettes a management role. He was quoted
We have a minimum of 13 cars ready to rumble at Sydney, we have some great backing and enthusiastic competitor group and the resources to deliver the best show drag racing has seen - I can’t wait for the first event – it’s going to be something special!”
If this Group is trying to deliver the best show drag racing has seen, should Andra be worried about the impact what this can do to Andra championship racing(isn't Andra sanction these meets).
Some question= is this Outlaw Nitro Funny Car Series will be run alone and nether try to be apart Andra championship rnds?Does this group want to run exhibition at some Andra rnds? Why start a outlaw nitro funnycar series and will that hurt any exciting or future classes of Andra group one? What are their future goals off class?
Ps Why is this a outlaw nitro funnycar series and not a nostalgia nitro funnycar series?
