Sydney Dragway Test and Tune delivering Nitro and blown alcohol action this Saturday

While the Christmas holiday break may be a relaxing time for some for most drag racers it’s a time to pull out the gearbox, freshen the motor and tune in that new, winning engine combination.

So it’s no wonder Sydney Dragway’s first Test and Tune of the year promises to be a cracker with names like Spitanovich, Read, Rapisarda, White and Fabietti lining up to launch new cars and test new combos.

Nitro Funny Cars are always a site to behold and Chris Stipanovich’s new Pontiac Firebird promises not to disappoint.

The ex-NHRA Tim Wilkerson car is capable of 4-second passes at over 300mph and while the team intends on taking easy to start with, “if everything goes well initially then a full pass is definitely not out of the question,” says chief tuner Brett Ehmer.

Also moving up to the Group one ranks is ex-Modified and Comp Eliminator driver Brett White. After having purchased the Romac-sponsored Top Alcohol Dragster from Bob Brakham Brett was toying with the idea of running the car in Comp Eliminator.  With the car still in Top Alcohol trim, however the team plan to run the car as is.

“It’s the perfect opportunity to upgrade to Group 1 and try and complete my license to run in Top Alcohol,”  team owner and driver Brett White said. “We’re using the opportunity of the Test and Tunes for the crew and I to gain experience to race at Sydney Dragway’s major events in future.”

If you’ve never been to a Test and Tune before, these events are a great opportunity to see and meet your favourite racers in a more relaxed environment.

It is an entertaining event for spectators and a great chance to check out some of the new and updated Race Cars and Bikes competing in the 2011/2012 Drag Racing season. There is always some one trying something new and different to try and get the edge on their competition.

At most Test n Tunes you can expect to see anything from Junior Dragsters to Top Fuel Dragsters, Screamin’ Eagle Harleys to Top Fuel Harleys and more!
