Chris Matheson and his Nitro Voodoo team have won two from two Top Fuel Bike championship rounds at Sydney Dragway – the latest at the 400 Thunder Santo’s Summer Thunder.

Matheson failed to make the start line for the previous round at Willowbank Raceway due to a damaged engine following a test past early on race day, so the team was eager for redemption in Sydney – though testing was still proved a problem.

“It was a week of ups and downs as we were scheduled to test the week leading up to the championship round, however poor weather made it difficult. We were still confident of putting on a good show after winning round one at Sydney Dragway late last year,” said Matheson.

Matheson continued, “The heat and rain in the lead up to the event had everyone on tender hooks, hoping for good weather come race day. Thankfully race day was dry, and conditions were good, the track officials did an excellent job, and the traction was there.”

“We struggled with set up, as the track came around throughout the day – but we ran our best when it counted. We top qualified, then won the final against Chris Porter, albeit it a slow race, damaging a motor at half track, but we still posted a 6.5 second pass – enough to take the win.”

The team will now turn their attention to round four of the 400 Thunder series which will be held during Easter at Willowbank Raceway.
