Rapisarda Autosport International will return to the NHRA Mello Yello series at the 2018 Chevrolet Performance U.S. Nationals at Lucas Oil Raceway, Indianapolis this weekend.
Sydneysider Wayne Newby will drive for the team with tuning duties shared between Santino Rapisarda and Santo Rapisarda Jnr.
“We have been in Indy for about two weeks prepping for this weekend,” Santo Jnr said. “We had the car front halved and also did some testing. Our best run was a 3.82, which we were happy with. We have not made many changes to the car set up since we last raced at Pomona in November.
“From memory, this will be the eighth time we have raced at the U.S. Nationals. Our best result has been going to second round, something we have achieved on two occasions.”
Santino said the team were looking forward to being back in the NHRA fray.
“The Indy meeting is the biggest and most important event on the NHRA calendar and we are looking forward to the challenge of racing against the best Top Fuel teams in the country,” he said. “There are five rounds of qualifying over three days and with 19 entries our first priority is making the cut. We’ve had a good lead up to the meeting and are confident of putting on a good show and racing well.”
