Willowbank Raceway will once again play host to the thunderous roar of flame-throwing Nitro Funny Cars when the Aeroflow Outlaw Nitro Funny Car Show, presented by Donnelly Blasting Services, comes to town on 12 September 2015.

The announcement, made jointly by the management of Willowbank Raceway and the AONFC Series, will see the largest field ever of Outlaw Nitro funny cars head to Queensland’s premier drag racing venue in September, with exciting plans being developed for an awesome support program.

Willowbank Raceway CEO Tony Manson said he was excited to confirm the details for what is sure to be a popular event on the facility’s 2015 calendar.

“The Aeroflow Outlaw Nitro Funny Car show allows us to add another unique and impressive event to our already bursting 2015 event calendar,” said Manson.

“Who can say ‘no’ to a show like this? An over-subscribed field of nitro funny cars is about as good as it gets and to have them race at Willowbank Raceway will be great for the drivers, crews and fans!

“On top of that, the AONFC machines will be firing up on-track at Willowbank Raceway on the evening of the iconic Powercruise next door at Queensland Raceway, with ticket holders for that event able to gain entry to our event at concession prices – seeing the Ipswich Motorsport Precinct putting on an amazing line-up all day and all night on September 12.

“With our plans for a special program in support of the headlining Nitro Funny Cars the event schedule for the 12th of September is sure to offer something for everyone.”

Aeroflow Outlaw Nitro Funny Car Series Manager Steve Bettes said he was delighted to have a date agreed with Willowbank Raceway management.

“It’s fantastic to be heading to Queensland’s premier drag racing facility, we are so pleased,” said Bettes.

“The series is going from strength to strength in 2015 and thanks must go to Queensland’s Jason and Hayley Donnelly of Donnelly Blasting Services for their support – we’re certainly looking forward to running in front of the South East Queensland fans for the first time.

“Local racers Peter Leahy, Justin Walshe, Paul Messineo, Greg Leahy and the North Queensland competitors Nathan Peirano, Glenn Moore, Harold Campbell and Paul Shackleton are all expected to fly the Queensland flag at their home event, and along with their super strong counterparts from New South Wales, West Australia and Victoria, we will have an amazing field of Outlaw Nitro Funny Cars and drivers that will be going for broke on the world renowned racing surface in near perfect weather conditions in September, we simply cannot wait to get there!”

Local driver Peter Leahy in particular is looking forward to seeing the Aeroflow Outlaw Nitro Funny Car series comes to his home track.

“We love the Aeroflow Outlaw Nitro Funny Car Series and are trying to support every event for the year, so we are over the moon that it is coming to our home track of Willowbank Raceway,” said Leahy.

“The whole series is just going to grow and grow and grow, and we are going to try and grow with it. We are totally ecstatic and can’t wait, we are certainly going to throw everything at it to try and beat all the big guns from interstate.

“Everyone needs to get behind it, it is an awesome series and we love it, we are addicted to it!”
