More than 200 racers will hit the track this coming Saturday and Sunday when Australia’s largest hi-tech automotive lifestyle event, the Jamboree, comes to Willowbank Raceway.

These racers will be joined by thousands of spectators for the two-day event that includes not just thrilling on-track racing but a wide range of off-track activities including show and shines, beat box shows, motorcycle stunt shows, free kids rides and more.

One car for spectators to keep an eye on in particular at the 22nd Jamboree at Willowbank Raceway will be the Pac Performance Mazda 6, which will make its race debut this weekend under the experienced hands of George Rehayem.

Team principal Rocky Rehayem said the team is ready for a fresh start after his horrific May 2011 Sydney Dragway accident, which saw his Mazda 6 of the time written off at 280km/h, leaving Rehayem recovering from bruised ribs, a fracture to the L2 vertebrae in his back, lacerations in his groin and a stretched nerve in his left eye.

“After a big twelve months the team is very much ready for a fresh start, starting this weekend at the Brisbane Jamboree!” said Rehayem.

“The new Pac Performance Mazda 6 SP is a US built chassis but all running gear is built and developed in Australia – we are very proud of the fact that all ingenuity and research and development is done right here in Australia.

“A big thank you has to go to our sponsors and also our crew who have worked tirelessly to get this new car built and ready to take on the world.

“We are not just going after the #1 Rotary title, we want to be the fastest Sport Compact Car in the world! So keep an eye on the Pac Performance team this weekend where this journey will begin with avengeance!”

The team would like to thank their sponsors Garrett Turbochargers, Haltech, Turbosmart, Mazda Australia, Castrol Edge, Custom Bodyworks, Juice, VP Racing fuels and Impact for their ongoing support.

Sport Compact Group and Jamboree organiser Ray Box said while the Pac Performance team’s ultimate goal was a huge task, it is not out of their reach.

“The Pac Performance guys are absolute professionals and the work that goes into their machines is just phenomenal,” said Box.

“The fans at Willowbank Raceway this weekend would be well advised to keep their eyes on what they get up to, as I am sure they are going to come out firing.

“Also set to fire up with be the ongoing battle between rotary vehicles such as Pac Performance’s new machine and piston racers such as Joe Signorelli, owner of the quickest ‘piston’ in Australia with his GAS Motorsports 2JZ Celica.

“These two well-known racers will be facing off against each other in Factory Xtreme, and if past events are anything to go by, the Piston v Rotor battle will be more than on once again with racers and fans alike getting into the heat of the competition!”

Staged across two big days at Willowbank Raceway in QLD on September 22/23, the Brisbane Jamboree is not just a drag racing event, it is Australia’s largest hi-tech automotive lifestyle event, with eleven on-track racing brackets and a wide array of off-track activities including a motorcycle stunt show, beat box stage shows, show and shines, trader and club displays, free kids rides and more. Tickets start from just $35 for adults and children aged 13 and under gain free entry. For more information, please visit www.jamboree.com.au
