Drag News Magazine Issue 28 (Print Copy) - $9.95 plus postage

John Zappia takes the cover of Drag News Magazine Issue 28 for an international themed extravaganza of horsepower reading.

Zappia's journey to the USA saw him become a new world record holder for blown doorslammers, the latest achievement in a list that has grown beyond his wildest expectations.

While Zappia is at the peak of his career, our next feature shows a driver who we think is still before his greatest years. That is Shane Tucker, now an NHRA Pro Stock racer doing things on his own terms in business and motorsport. Balancing work, family and racing across the world is not easy but Tucker is making it happen.

We speak with a couple of expats: Vic Wood, the man to know in the aftermarket industry, and Steve Harker, who decided to spend his retirement racing throughout the USA.

Luke Crowley tells us what it is like racing on both sides of the planet and we check out events including East Coast Thunder at Sydney Dragway, the Aeroflow Outlaw Nitro Funny Cars at Springmount and Hot Rod Drag Week USA.

Drag News Magazine Issue 27 (Print Copy) - $9.95 plus postage

Drag News Magazine focuses on the women in Australian drag racing who are making an impact for its 27th issue. Our sport is one of the most diverse and we wanted to showcase that fact.

Kelly Bettes takes the cover, having recently ascended to the seat of the Lamattina Top Fuel Racing dragster. There she has been on the learning curve of her life, but the former Australian Modified champion definitely has what it takes to be a future champion.

In editor Luke Nieuwhof's life, women in drag racing has been anything but unusual as he watched his mother race to state championships on drag bikes. But now it his sister who has taken over and made her mark in the sport.

Bettes is not the only up and coming woman in nitro, with Emma Begley taking on the short wheelbase Funny Cars. We talk to her about the role of her father in teaching her the ins and outs of nitro and how to make progress on a timeline you set.

We also speak with Jenny Petrie, Chelsea Leahy and Robyn Phillis, talk about the role of eyesight in reaction times, and cover the opening rounds of the 400 Thunder and Summit Sportsman seasons at Darwin and Alice Springs.

Drag News Magazine Issue 26 (Print Copy) - $9.95 plus postage

Drag racing heaps much of its glory on its drivers, but there is no doubt that it is the tuners behind the scenes who are often responsible for the performances we see on the strip.

Drag News Magazine issue 26 celebrates those people – the innovators, the creators and the hard workers. Their faces may be new to you, but their stories are some of the most interesting in the sport.

Taking the cover of issue 26 are the Rapisarda brothers, Santo Jr and Santino, who both tuned Top Fuel dragsters into the 4.4 second zone for the first time in June. The historic feat is made all the more amazing by the fact they have only just turned 24.

Queensland's Noonan Race Engineering is an Australian success story, delivering billet cylinder head and block technology to some of the quickest methanol-fuelled teams in the world. Jamie Noonan, no strange to racing success in the driver's seat himself, takes us on the journey.

Darren Mayer is the man when it comes to building roots-style superchargers and he has recently been a more familiar face on Australian shores as the crew chief for Scott MacLean's Top Doorslammer and Top Alcohol team. We were lucky enough to hear his story, going from a humble Army mechanic to a world expert on mechanical boost.

If you're a fan of the sport and wondering how you could ever match it with some of these names, maybe Paul Drady should be an inspiration. He was a self described 'stalker' at the ropes of Pro Stock racer Lee Bektash's pit area until one day he was asked to come on board and help the team out. Since then his skills have grown to cover every aspect of the operation.

In an issue packed with good reading, New Zealand crew member extraordinaire Bronson Dunne and 2JZ tuner Milos Pavlovic also feature, while we look at what a great event the rained out Gulf Western Oil Winternationals might have been.

Drag News Magazine Issue 25 (Print Copy) - $9.95 plus postage

Drag News Magazine unveils its 'unique' issue. What do a Lamborghini, a Honda S600 and a Jaguar XKR all have in common? They have all been turned into mental drag cars. Take an up close look at the wondererous flying machines of the Sciacca family, Phil Penny and Norbert Claite.

But we're not done with unique yet. For something different we head to the dirt and check out the Bindoon Dirt Drags in WA. It's an eighth mile of fun and the vehicles there have to be seen to be believed.

We review Gulf Western Oil Nitro Thunder and the ANDRA Grand Finals, along with plenty more from Willowbank, Perth and Mildura, while historian Lex Swayn looks back on the original Winternationals ahead of the 50th running of the great event.

Drag News Magazine Issue 24 (Print Copy) - $9.95 plus postage

This month it was a real challenge to decide who to put on our cover but we can now reveal that Pro Street racer Carl Cox takes centre stage - something he is definitely used to in his career. The sometimes Brit, sometimes Victorian who has spent much of his life performing as a DJ in nightclubs, Cox also has a great love for everything automotive and going drag racing is a great way for him to feel like a kid again.

ANDRA Top Fuel Motorcycle champion Damian Muscat features with an up close photo shoot of the Nitro Phoenix Harley. A simple but brutal machine, the Queenslander has been one of the breakout stars of motorcycle drag racing in the last couple of years.

The feature shoots continue with Paul Russo's Top Sportsman 55 Chev. Highly competitive but also enjoying the party that is drag racing, Adelaide's Russo has gone from unknown to prominent DYO name very quickly.

West Australian Denise McKenna's beautiful Chevy Nova is up next, a racing tribute to her husband. They built it together, they raced it together and now she continues to drive it in his memory. Beautiful photos and story.

Plus in depth reports from the Australian Nationals and the Westernationals.

Drag News Magazine Issue 22 (Print Copy) - $9.95 plus postage

You won't take long to see who our star of Drag News Magazine Issue 22 is - Tomi Raikko takes the stage with his turbocharged six second Holden Torana. We've dubbed it the flying four door and show it off with a goregous sunset photo shoot from Sydney Dragway.

Speaking of slick sedans, Josh Calrgo's EN4CED follows on, also taking advantage of twin turbo power. But this Holden Statesman is definitely a street ride through and through still, with Josh even giving his family some scares!

The Fardella family are enjoying their time in Junior Dragster, as Georgia shows her drag racing skills. We chat with the family about what they enjoy in the sport.

Then it's on to East Coast Thunder and an in depth report, speaking with a bunch of great people. We have interviews with Scott Maclean, Mark Belleri, Geoff Gradden, Mark Davison, Michelle Davies, Kerry and Rolinia Tremayne, Jason Hedges, Adam Layton, Brad Lemberg, Blair Pennington, Perry Bullivant, Chris Manks, Alf Sciacca Jnr, the Liefting family, Shaun Smith and Shawn Taskis - there's a reason why it's thousands of words long!
