New Zealand’s premier Sport Compact event entered its 20th year and a host of Australia’s toughest machines crossed the ditch to help them celebrate the 4 & Rotary Nationals.
PAC Performance packed up five machines, headed by “The Godfather” Sam Sadek. Also for the Pac team were, Steven Barnett, Elia Hajjar and Grant Henderson all in their RX3’s and finally Luke Phillips in his little R100 [STUTTA].
Joining the Pac brigade was Po Tung with the GAS Motorsports Supra and Paul Mouhayet giving them a taste of the turbo V8 power.
The NZ 4 & Rotary Nationals kicked off with a pre-event promotional show and shine that attracted plenty of glamour and attention. The show included John Saad’s spectacular RX3 – [FATRX3] – fresh off claiming the Summernats Grand Champion sword.
Sam Sadek helped to deafened everyone in the pavilion with ear shattering two steps.
At the track and the Australian teams were unaccustomed to Meremere Dragway conditions and took sometime adjusting, but ET’s steadily improved over the course of the event.
We were not able to come across detailed results, but Po Tung did take out the Aus vs NZ Outlaw final over the Curran Brothers Racing RX2 on a big holeshot.
The CBR RX2 is a very cool deal, the New Zealand team run a quad rotor – a engine that has not really been explored in Australia – topped off with four turbos…yes four!
The Godfather impressed with wheels up antics and a 7.39 best.
Elia Hajjar managed a quicker 7.37.
Steve Barnett’s RX3 has been an excitement machine locally, and lived up the hype across the Strait with a scary chute-less ride into the braking area. Barnett managed to halt the bucking RX3 as it bounced all over the Meremere track without any damage.

Moits just had to much power for the track, but still did not fail to entertain.
