Sekli set for Sydney

Australian Modified Bike Champion Daniel Sekli is quietly confident as he prepares to race in Modified Bike as part of the Rocket Allstars Racing Series at the Nitro Champs at Sydney Dragway.

Sekli’s first trip to Sydney saw a hiccup when the Queenslander’s Kawasaki ZX-10R suffered engine damage during a pre-race test but the loan of Rapid Bikes Magazine’s Yamaha XJR1300 allowed him to contest the meeting, even if it was at slightly slower pace than he’s used to.

After an engine rebuild by Powerhouse Dynotuning, Sekli took victory at the Willowbank round of the Rocket Allstars Racing Series in January aboard his own 1050cc Kawasaki.

With 100 points to his credit, a return to Sydney for the Rocket Allstars Racing Series in March saw Sekli again top qualify and make it to the final. The 80 points he earned for runner-up were balanced by resetting the Australian B/Modified Bike records at 8.738 and 248.91kmh.

“After the rebuild, I decided not to refit the nitrous oxide and I’m happy that I didn’t. The rush was great but it made it hard to get the consistency you need to win in Modified Bike,” he said.

Sekli currently leads the Australian Modified Bike pointscore with 180 points, 20 clear of his nearest rivals.

The Nitro Champs features the full ANDRA Pro Series including Top Fuel, Top Doorslammer, Top Alcohol, Pro Stock, Top Bike and Pro Stock Motorcycle as well as Australia’s best sportsman racers in the Rocket Allstars Racing Series. For more information click here.
