Modified Bike will see the return of the Nieuwhof family this weekend with Luke Nieuwhof back aboard the family’s 8.2 second 60foot Kawasaki.

The Nieuwhof name has long been associated with motorcycle drag racing in Western Australia with Luke’s father Paul a former Modified Bike national champion and multi time state Modified Bike and Competition Bike champion, while mother Julie is also a former state Modified Bike champion.

Luke said he was looking forward to getting back into the saddle of the quick machine.

“I’ve been working interstate with the Australian National Drag Racing Association for some time and one of the first things I want to do now that I am back in Perth is race at the Motorplex,” he said.

“Two years ago I won this same event so hopefully that form has lasted and we can go some rounds again.”

The Nieuwhof team will also be sporting some of the coolest gear at the track with new partner 60foot coming on board for a three-event campaign and Luke joining the stable of 60foot Athletes that includes Top Fuel’s Phil Lamattina, Competition’s Jason Maggs, Modified’s Jessica Turner and the Cartledge brothers in Junior Dragster.

“60foot are producing some of the best drag racing gear I have seen so to become an athlete representing that brand is a real honour,” he said.

“The team is going to look awesome decked out with the 60foot brand and the best bit is that anyone can head to 60foot.com and buy that same kit. We can’t wait to do some skids in style at the Motorplex.”
