Perth Motorplex played host to jet dragster match racing for the third event in a row on Saturday with the fourth round of the state championship going down alongside.

Some perfect summer weather came to the party and though things were a little warm during the day the night time conditions were to the liking of many racers, as was the track surface.

Chuck Haynes and Curt White provided the standard jet show with Haynes the quickest of the night with a 5.52/289 pass, while White’s quickest was a 5.95, a faster 263mph speed coming on a later run. This event marked the last time jets will be at the Motorplex for this season, with ANDRA championship racing set to consume the next three events.

Read on for more from the event below!

almcclure

Top Comp saw Al McClure in his third final from three events with the new handicapping system at the Motorplex proving no impediment to the consistent BB/FCA runner. McClure used a 6.41 in the final for the victory.

danielgregorini

Daniel Gregorini got on top of a new supercharger combination with a 5.93 in Top Doorslammer trim and plenty of 60 foot times beneath 1.00.

paulcarey

Paul Carey went as quick as 7.31 on his 10.5 tyres and later had a wild pass with the car turning hard right as it launched.

russellladbrook

Russell Ladbrook had assistance from Stu Rowland on his side and produced some good numbers with a 5.81/247 in AA/FC. He lost the Top Comp B Final to Ryan Moresby.

trentmorrison

Trent Morrison ran a new PB of 7.05 in CC/AA, no doubt he will soon be into the six second zone that was the territory of his father Trevor not too many years ago.

shaneweston

Shane Weston top qualified with a 5.71 in TA/D but lost the Top Comp elimination round to Pino Priolo.

kyleputland

Kyle Putland, staging here on a single pass in the first round, took his second event win in a row with the Harness Master altered.

brettglover

Brett Glover was chasing clutch gremlins most of the day but still came away with a runner up in the PTS RX7. The team has recently switched to a Motec ECU in the hope of better preserving their engines.

andrewkatavatis

Andrew Katavatis pushed the tree too hard in the Super Comp semi finals and red lit to Putland.

morenogullotto

Moreno Gullotto’s newly refreshed Soarer turned on some big burnouts and it was evident the car now has a lot more power on board. Watch out for this one as they begin to nail the set up.

gregoryjames

Gregory James picked up the win in Supercharged Outlaws, the venerable Lamborghini benefiting from a red light by Nigel Johnson.

brettstewart

Brett Stewart’s near slow motion burnouts are proving a crowd favourite, as is the almost cartoonish ute. It looks like one of those exaggerated die casts you can buy – and we love it!

franktaylor

Frank Taylor qualified with a 6.72 but we didn’t see him out again for eliminations. Thanks to photographer Jon Gall for the background flash.

vincebelladonna

Vince Belladonna claimed a B Final win against Rhiannon Allison with a narrow eight thousandths break out from the rookie dragster driver.

jonferguson

Jon Ferguson top qualified in Supercharged Outlaws with a ‘dead on’ 6.500. The car appears to be set up fairly lazy so there is clearly plenty of power aboard.

samtreasure

Sam Treasure is driving supremely well in Modified and was rewarded with another trophy, his uncle Ray (Sydney Dragway’s track superstar) in town again to see it happen.

michelleadamos

Michelle Adamos was thrilled to get a runner up, adding to an excellent week with partner Andrew Katavatis proposing to her earlier in the week. Fortunately for Andrew she said yes!

michelleosborn

Michelle Osborn went 7.07 in the first round, can sixes be far away for this pinkest of altereds?

Now you may have to excuse us as we don’t have all the finalists for the coming brackets as combining racing with photography unfortunately means a few brackets get missed!

Leigh Fallon earned victory in Super Sedan, here’s his semi final win against Lorenzo Gullotto. Wonder what his celebration was like after the final!

neilscott

Neil Scott reached the final of Super Sedan but was taken out by Fallon.

brettconnelly

The shift light shines bright as Brett Connolly performs his burnout.

lesholden

A Top Bike exhibition included Les Holden’s new ride, a small cube, carburetted nitro Harley which will actually be running in Competition Bike. With a 7.6 tune up inside the bike ran 7.66, which left Les more than happy as he got his first experience with nitro.

sebastianclaite

Sebastian Claite earned a win in Junior Dragster, scoring a rare victory for the C/JD group.

baileymcclure

Bailey McClure broke out in the final of Junior Dragster by just three hundredths of a second.

jaymiikarapetkov

Jaymii Karapetkov was bubbly ahead of her racing, unfortunately going out in the quarter finals to Claite.

Other winners on the night included Justin Townson for the second event straight in Modified Bike, defeating Ross Smith, and James Read taking out Blake Jeffreys in Super Street. {fcomment}
