Treasure is gold heading into Aeroflow round

Sam Treasure is praying that his hot form in Modified will continue into this weekend’s second round of the Aeroflow Sportsman Drag Racing Championship at Perth Motorplex.

Treasure has won the last two local events in Perth on the trot with uber-consistent performance both with reaction times and ETs.

Treasure, still one of the youngest drivers in the field at 20 years of age, said the recent purple patch had been down to a crew that was gelling well and giving him the mechanical package he needs to have complete confidence.

“The crew is providing a consistent car which just leaves me to cut good lights and get to the end of the track in front,” he said. “It was great to have a win last meeting, the car was running within five hundredths all weekend and I was cutting some good consistent lights.”

The two WA-based rounds of the Aeroflow Sportsman Drag Racing Championship are going to decide if the team chases more rounds of the national series this season.

“We’re hoping to go some rounds and pick up national points,” he said. “Depending how we go in the two Aeroflow rounds will decide whether we travel this year or not.

“We have won two meetings in a row now and would love a third – what better time to do it than at the national Aeroflow round!”

Treasure is part of one of the most well known drag racing families with father Darryl a former altered racer and uncle Ray the current event manager at Sydney Dragway. He faces 18 other teams in Modified this Friday and Saturday.
