Shane Tucker achieved his best ever qualifying performance last weekend in New Hampshire and will be looking for a repeat of the success this weekend at Chicago’s Route 66 Raceway.

Following on from Bristol where Tucker qualified a career best tenth, the news was all good at New England Dragway where he stepped up big time with a personal best 6.496/213.94mph pass to qualify him fourth.

The Elite Performance engine delivered continuing dividends with consistent 6.53 and 6.54 passes for the remainder of qualifying, enough to retain fourth spot and set up a first round match against John Gaydosh.

A 6.53 was good for the win in the Auzmet Architectural/GearWrench Camaro but Tucker would then run into former world champ Allen Johnson in round two.

Tyre shake afflicted the Camaro and Tucker pushed in the clutch early, but took the positives from the event.

“I am just getting up to all the overwhelming well wishes and congratulations (earlier in the week). Guys and girls thank you all very much. My team seriously are the ones to give all the accolades to they have given me a really good car,” he said.
