Shane Tucker has finished an NHRA career best, reaching the semi finals in Chicago on Sunday.

Tucker’s qualifying performance belied the potential in his Elite Motorsport engine package and he used eliminations to prove it. His first round win came with a bit of luck as opponent Chris McGaha was shut down with a gear oil leak, though a tough .014 reaction and 6.639 from Tucker proved he was going to be a formidable package on race day.

The second round saw arguably Tucker’s finest moment yet as he defeated points leader Erica Enders-Stevens on a holeshot. Though Tucker played it safe on the tree with a .055, Enders-Stevens played it safer with a .069 and that was the difference as Tucker’s 6.658 outran a 6.647 by three thousandths of a second.

The semi finals pitted Tucker against Nobile but unfortunately his run came to an end with a .012-reacted 6.638 from Nobile defeating Tucker’s .013 and a 6.699.

“We are happy with our progress over the last three rounds. We will be looking to go one step further in Norwalk next weekend before heading back to Australia for a short period,” the team said on their Facebook page.
