Rhiannon Allison might still be the rookie for the Night of Fire at Perth Motorplex on March 21 but the young driver of the Felicity Dragwell jet dragster has been rapidly ticking off goals on her high speed list.

Jet dragsters are exactly what they say on the box – a jet powered dragster with a light weight chrome moly chassis designed for one thing: maximum acceleration.

Allison’s first competitive event was Jet Car Max in January and she said that she achieved more than she ever imagined in just that first outing.

Now she is keen to dish out some quick times and fast speeds on her opponents which will include USA veteran Chuck Haynes in Volcano and fellow statesider Curt White in Iceman, plus South African Pieter De Wit in Iron Horse.

“After running quick times and cutting some sharp lights at the Jet Car Max event against the two veterans, I’m looking forward to the Night of Fire to see what the two Americans and South African have waiting for me,” she said.

“After laying down a few laps now in a jet dragster I know this will be the best one yet! We will have four flame throwing jet dragsters to fly down the quarter mile, you haven’t seen anything like it here in Australia.”

Allison is pumping up her chances against the established stalwarts of the jet dragster world, confident her team has given her the best in equipment to scorch down Perth Motorplex.

“I’m getting excited for the Night of Fire and hopefully I can get the holeshot win against the old bloke Chuck, burn down Iceman and show the South African what Aussie girls are made of,” she said.

The Night of Fire will take on a special note with the jet dragsters being a particular favourite of former Perth Motorplex managing director Gary Miocevich, who passed away last month. He managed the team and ensured many of the fire throwing shows at Perth Motorplex went ahead.

“Recently our team boss Gary has passed away and we sure are going to put on a real show for him as our mentor while we fly down the strip at 400kph,” Allison said.

The Night of Fire sees sportsman qualifying from 10am, with the feature program beginning from 6pm.
