The OFFTAP Racing team were out testing a fresh new combination in their Mazda RX7 this week at Sydney Dragway in preparation for the largest Sport Compact Drag Racing event in the southern hemisphere, the 2010 Jamboree.

The team have been working tirelessly to turn the car around and the results speak for themselves. The car ran consistent 8 second pass all day with a best of 8.83 seconds at 148mph (238km/hr). The car is consistently covering the 60ft in a mind blowing 1.26sec, while carrying the wheels past the 100ft mark on every pass.

“With the fantastic help of my sponsors, Buzurk Racing, BlackTrack Performance & Dyno Centre and Southern Aurora, we’re looking forward to the 2010 Jamboree at Willowbank Raceway” said team owner Brad Baker.

“The new combination and change to alcohol fuel has turned the car into an animal and living up to it name of OFFTAP. With some fine tuning and more power the team estimate consistent 8.60’s which is very achievable.”

The OFFTAP Racing team have spent the last 12 months in NSW and QLD racing in preparation for the new drag strip to be opened in Darwin next year.

OFFTAP Racing is the first Darwin team to compete in the Jamboree.
