Clarke brings in new rides

Jeffrey Clarke has made his name by racing a dragster in the Competition category but he has some grander plans ahead with a new Funny Car and a Pro Street Chevy Nova coming in from the US.

The Funny Car will be raced in the Top Alcohol category where Clarke thinks his team can match the performances of the top drivers.

“We bought the whole operation to give it a crack, if I can get sponsors on board we could get to a championship level, we proved that with the dragster,” he said.

The Funny Car has a Ford Mustang body and has come as a complete running combination which Clarke hopes will be able to move the car into the 5.5sec. zone.

“It was a good buy; it will definitely be more of a ride and the power levels are a bit higher,” he said.

“I’m sure with the new engine combination and my tuner we can get quick times to happen.”

Clarke plans to continue running the dragster in Competition as well. Competition is made up of varying classes each with their own handicap that allows different combinations to compete against each other. He may go for the BB/Funny Car class if the record, and therefore the handicap, stays high this season.

“I want to see what other racers have to offer, 5sec. is not out of the question for that class,” he said, predicting what performances he thinks could come.

The Nova Clarke has purchased is for helping get exposure for his business and his sponsors, by racing as well as playing in burnout competitions.
