Sydney Dragway will once again become a hotbed of Nitro fuelled action in just under 3 weeks from now as the 400 Thunder Series hits town for the East Coast Thunder on November 4 and 5.
Seven of the nation’s quickest and fastest cars will face the starter’s orders, with champions such as Darren Morgan and Damien Harris racing amongst one of the strongest Top Fuel line ups seen in recent memory.
“We love coming to Sydney to race, so much so that we are planning on debuting our new race car at the event,” enthused Victorian racer Darren Morgan. “We have seen just how much the entire Top Fuel category has improved over the last few years, and we know that we need to pull out the big guns to win this race. Our new AEG Powertools car will certainly be ready to take them on at full throttle!”
Another racer looking to continue his rich vein of form is Sydney local Peter Xiberras. After several seasons running a partial race schedule, Xiberras confirmed today that he will be chasing the 400 Thunder Top Fuel Championship and will race at every event on the calendar.
“We are always trying to go a little faster with our Premi-air Hire Dragster, and change little things here and there,” commented Xiberras. “But this season you are going to need to run consistent 4.60s to have any hope of going rounds.”
“Top Fuel over the last few years have shown that they can be quick – but the consistency wasn’t always there. This season, you will need to be quick and consistent to win – which is much easier said than done!”
The East Coast Thunder forms the second round of the 400 Thunder Professional Drag Racing Series, and the second round of the 400 Thunder Sportsman Series. The event on the 4th and 5th of November is the first opportunity to see Top Fuel this season, and promises to be a spectacular event. Tickets are on sale now from $10 pre-purchase. Corporate packages are also available.
