A beaut ute

NSW racer Brad Mckie recently brought out his schmick Holden ute to play at Sydney Dragway, with the running gear from his Super Sedan Holden Torana going into the red rocket.

That gear includes a 511ci big block Chev with a transbraked T400, but it now has to transfer power through factory leaf springs and two 315/60/15 radial tyres.
“The complete drive line package was previously in my orange Torana that ran a best of 8.90@151,” he said.
The ute ran a 9.63 in its first event and Mckie hopes to be in the 9.3s once teething problems are fixed.
“The 9.63 pass was a great starting point with wheel spin most of the way through first gear,” he said. I can’t wait to get back to some bracket racing.
“We built the ute so we could stay racing while upgrading my Torana deal. This has been built over the last six to seven years by myself and a couple of very close friends.”
