Tony Frost currently sits as top qualifier in Modified Bike at the ANDRA Grand Finals in Adelaide following his first seven second run.

The Victorian rider has been riding on a new chassis this season and after running an 8.05 on his previous chassis he was hopeful the new pipe would see him into the seven second zone.

“We have raced at Adelaide before and had great success,” he said. “We traveled to Calder but had a few curveballs with our set up so we made the decision to come to Adelaide and try to sort them out.”

Like we reported with WA riders Phill Paton and Daniel Natalotto yesterday, Frost is one of the riders who has had to shift to Modified Bike with there being no Competition Bike field.

“We are using this as a test meet and to have some fun also,” Frost said. “With changes we made from Calder we raced our first qualifier hoping for some consistency. It was still lazy off the line but went through for a PB 167 mph and an 8.01. You could say I was pretty happy.”

The team looked at the data in the pits and made some changes to getting and launch speed before heading out for a night run.

“The air was looking good and as long as I launched it right the crew was hoping for the pass we had been chasing for the season. After a close call with the sand trap and finally getting the helmet off, the crew came to pick me up with the news I wanted to hear – 7.97 and 167mph with 5.01 half track. I think people at the start line would’ve heard the roaring from us.

“I have got to say a huge thank you to all my crew, family and friends that have given me a hand to do what I love to do, and sponsors Pedders Warrnambool and Ballistic Racing for their support.”

Frost’s crew chimed in with their somewhat more succinct version of events.

“Tony is good monkey, Tony goes straight, Tony goes very fast, Tony did good job.”

“Yes, they have been drinking,” Frost laughed.
