It was a bittersweet Sydney Jamboree for Nikki Hepburn with a violent crash in the Pro Turbo final ending a day which saw her break a World Record in the Boosted86 Racing Toyota 86.

Fortunately for Nikki she was able to front the presentation to collect her runner up trophy and the JW Automotive team behind the car promise the Toyota 86 will be rebuilt and back on track.

Up until that point Hepburn was having a cracker of an event, running a string of 7.0 passes – the quickest being a 7.02 @ 206mph – and reclaiming the moniker of quickest and fastest import with radial tyres on the planet.

Her performances saw her into the Pro Turbo final against Domenic Rigoli. After a delayed start due to a start beam issue, the 86 left the line wheels up before heading out of the groove, getting loose, then turning hard left into the wall, narrowly missing the 300ZX Rigoli was steering that was off the power with a transmission issue as fate would have it.

All the safety components did their job allowing Hepburn to walk away from the wreck.

Drag News Magazine wishes Nikki all the best and to see her back on track in the very near future.
