Fabietti to celebrate western swing with an 80’s theme

For the man currently sitting in the number two slot of the ANDRA Pro Series Top Doorslammer standings, the return to the West Coast promises to be have an 80’s theme but don’t expect to see hairspray and shoulder pads – it’s all about getting back into the 5.80s for the Holden Trade Club Monaro.

Maurice Fabietti is at the top his game and he and his team are confident of another strong performance at the Perth Motorplex for the 39th Westernationals, Saturday and Sunday 27 and 28 February 2010.
Fabietti still has unfinished business in the West. “Don’t get me wrong, our last meeting in Perth was just fantastic. We managed to run a personal best, Top Qualify and make the final, so you can’t complain about that!” smiled Maurice.

“Unfortunately we hurt the engine in the semis and couldn’t contest the final. So, I would like to win one more round at this event.”
The partisan Perth was left gasping at the last round where the Holden Trade Club Monaro rocketed to a simply staggering 5.844-second pass at over 390km/h, to become only the third Australian to run into the 5.8-second zone in official ANDRA Pro Series competition.

Fabietti is confident of a repeat performance as the championship chase starts to get serious.

Another reason to get serious is the inaugural Karcher Tri State Top Doorslammer Shootout, which will commence as part of qualifying at this weekend’s 2010 Westernationals.

The shootout is a three round “mini championship” incorporating qualifying runs at the Westernationals, the Nitro Champs event at Sydney Dragway in May, and the Winternationals at Willowbank Raceway in Brisbane next June.

The overall winner will receive $20,000 from Karcher, the world’s largest manufacturer of pressure cleaners.

“We want the title, that’s why we do what we do, no question about it! But now we have the Karcher Tri State Top Doorslammer Shootout as an additional goal,” explained Fabietti.
“The 5.844 shows clearly the level of effort our team puts into the operation,” he continues.

“It’s a huge commitment to travel across the country but it makes the trip home a whole lot nicer when you run numbers like that!”

“We are very fortunate to have such fantastic support from Holden, their partnership has given us what we need to content for the Championship and this is perhaps the most pivotal round of the season.”

The 50% bonus points for Western Australian rounds and Fabietti’s awesome run so far this season now sees the Holden Trade Club machine comfortably in second place in the ANDRA Pro Series, sandwiched between West Aussies Robin Judd and reigning champion, John Zappia.

“Judd and Zappia have done more passes on this racetrack than just about anyone, so it’s not going to be easy but we are confident we have a great car, excellent preparation and a plenty of enthusiasm. It’s game on!”
