Lamattina Top Fuel Racing, had a night to remember at Sydney Dragway on 5 – 7 May taking the Fuchs dragster to a final round appearance in the hands of returning US-based Australian star, Richie Crampton.
Team boss, Phil Lamattina was impressed with what the team managed to achieve at the event.
“We had the car for just two days and the guys managed to put together a race car that was equal to anything else in the country.
“To have the car on the track was an achievement but to have the new car run a 4.538 in the second round of racing – only two hundredths of a second from the Sydney Dragway Track Record and three hundredths away from the quickest pass ever recorded in the country, it was just amazing.
“The LTFR crew is the best in the business and so is Richie Crampton! He’s such a humble guy, who is so capable, it was great to see the way he goes about racing.
New team driver, Kelly Bettes was also on hand to learn the ropes from Richie as well as two-time Top Fuel Champion and team boss, Phil Lamattina.
Lamattina concluded, “Kelly learnt a lot and she gelled with the whole crew perfectly, she’s going to be a superstar and we are happy to help her on that journey.
“She’s very smart and she will be processing and analysing everything we did on the weekend; we are looking forward to seeing what she can do!”
For the Sydney event the team offered their new ‘blank canvas’ dragster as a unique opportunity for Novita Children’s Services and the fans.
Novita is one of the largest providers of quality services to children living with disability and other special needs, (including their families) for 75 years.
The Nitro Thunder pit was full of fans who could sign their name on the car for a gold coin donation,
The promotion saw over 200 signatures on the car and more than $1000 raised for a great cause.
Lamattina concluded, “The event was fantastic, we ran some 4.50’s, we made some money for a great cause, we gave fans to be a part of the action and we know we have a star to come in Kelly – bring on the next race meeting! Wherever that might be!”
