Herrman extends points lead with Darwin win

Hidden Valley Drag Strip’s track championship has put their third round into the books following a big weekend of racing at the venue over Friday and Saturday.

Friday’s Track Championship Round Three saw Top Eliminator go to points leader Dieter Herrman, with a safe 7.41 on his 7.30 dial in after opponent Dwight Brefies red lit.

Ashley Smith took out Super Modified and earned his third victory in a row, an 8.617 on an 8.62 dial in a narrow double breakout the winner against Peter Kirkpatrick’s 9.171 on a 9.19.

Mark Tattingham won Modified Bike on his Kawasaki ZX12R and solidified his position at the top of the points, able to roll off very early to an 11 second pass on a 9.50 dial in when opponent Brandt McGlade had problems.

Shaun Boyer and Wayne Harris left near identically in the Super Street final with .077 and .078 reaction times respectively, with Boyer’s tough 11.59 on an 11.58 in the Gemini defeating an 11.23 on an 11.20 in a great final round.

A double breakout in Street Car saw Tony List’s 13.846 on a 13.90 take a win against a 13.343 on a 13.40 from Daniel Webb.

Street Bike saw Andrew Reid the winner thanks to a massive breakout from Reece Tjung – who went 9.84 on a 10.10.

Finally in Junior Dragster, Aiden Abel’s close 8.91 on an 8.90 defeated a break out 11.76 on an 11.90.

Saturday was a fun affair with testing and a street meet before a show and shine in the afternoon as Darwin came alive to the sound of their ‘cracker night’.

The next round of the Track Championship takes place alongside Nitro Up North on July 21 and 22.
