Splitting his time between his home in Australia and his home in Dallas, Texas, Hot Wheels™ Car Care Products Pro Stock driver Shane Tucker is hoping that coming to his adopted-home track will bring luck for his part-time team as they head into the 32nd annual AAA Texas NHRA FallNationals this weekend.

“When I started doing this deal when I was living in Australia and just coming over here, I think it was more difficult,” Tucker said. “Especially with my business [Auzmet Architectural], Monday in Australia is Sunday here and it was hard to focus on raceday while getting business calls. Having an office in Dallas now allows me to split the two.”

Tucker runs a part-time schedule in the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series and he admits that not running the full schedule presents its own challenges when finding a solid team.

“Our biggest challenge is getting good guys week in and week out when we run a limited schedule,” Tucker explained. “I am fortunate that our crew chief Tommy Lee is my dad’s neighbor. He [Tommy Lee] runs his own business and he runs an IHRA Pro Stock deal as well so we make it work with both of our schedules. Our engine guy Brian was part-time over at Elite and then he became available. We’re fortunate to have built a team with guys that have the skills and can work with us part-time.”

Although their schedule is limited, competing at his adopted-home track of Texas Motorplex is always an obvious staple in his schedule.

“I enjoy getting to race out on Texas Motorplex,” he added. “We have a lot of people come out this weekend that work at Auzmet Architectural and I’m excited to have them out there with us.”
