In an impressive fashion, Scott Porter in the Porters Racing Mustang earnt his first number one qualifying position on Saturday night at Sydney Dragway competing in the Australian Nationals.
After a busy off-season, their hard work paid dividends in the final qualifying session when the team edged out fellow racer Nicholas Xerakias in the last pairing to claim the top spot with an elapsed time of 7.059 seconds at 193 mph, a personal best for the car.

“I’m really excited about how good our race car is running” said Team Principal Paul Porter. “We made consistent passes all weekend on the tricky Sydney track and were the quickest car for several sessions. The test session a fortnight ago along with the new John Barbagallo race engine is really starting to click. To run a personal best and claim the number one qualifying position is a real positive for our team and gives us confidence for the remainder of the season”.

In the eliminations, Scott advanced to the quarter-finals where he was beaten on the startline by Dave Newcombe and was unable to drive around the Chevrolet GTO. The team would like to thank their sponsors Porters Can Do and JB Automotive North Queensland.

Porters Racing sits 5th in the ANDRA Pro Stock bracket with the next round scheduled for early January 2011 at Willowbank Raceway, Ipwsich.
