Mark Drew has promised some very exciting news that could potentially see Drew and Australia at the forefront of Top Fuel Harley racing.
Drew has just recently finalised a deal to bring Top Fuel Harley gun Jaska Salakari to Australia in January next year to assist Drew in tuning his nitro bike - the Finnish rider is the quickest in the world on a V-Twin clocking a 6.01 ET.
"Jaska is from Finland, and has gone quicker than anyone else in the world on a V-Twin motorcycle," said Drew.
"Jaska's Nitro bike is slightly different to the bikes we run in the world of nitro Harleys, and due to a couple of minor issues he can not run in our class. But he is bringing a fuel system the same as he runs on his bike which is different to anyone else in the world."
They will begin testing at Willowbank on January 6 for the New Years Thunder event, ahead of more testing before the Summer Thunder event at Sydney Dragway on January 20. They will then run private test days at the January 17th all bike meet, leading up to the Eastern Creek Sydney January 20 Santos Summer 400 Thunder event. Drew will then finish testing the new fuel system at the 400 Thunder Perth Motorplex round on March 3rd and 4th in preparation for a full tilt assault at the 2018/2019 400 Thunder Championship Series.
Drew currently sits with a personal best of 6.34 and with the new fuel system between the rails, new records are the goal.
"My bike will be the first in the world to run this fuel system in the nitro Harley class, and I have asked Jaska what he thought we could achieve in January when he comes to Australia," commented Drew. "His reply was, first personal best, then world nitro Harley record - pretty cool I reckon."
Renowned as the fastest man in Australia on one wheel for his awesome one wheeled quarter mile full track wheelstands. Fans and spectators around the globe will be waiting in anticipation to see what Jaska and Drew - a multi time Australian Top Fuel Motorcycle Champion - will have in store for race fans this upcoming season.
