Adrian McGrotty got his 18/19 Summit Racing Equipment Sportsman Series Super Gas campaign off to a perfect start recently with victory aboard his Holden Commodore at the Sunset Strip Nats in Mildura.

Now, McGrotty is preparing for the second round of the Super Gas title chase, the South Coast Nationals, which will be held at Portland’s South Coast Raceway this weekend (November 10 and 11).

“It was a great start to the season with an event win; this is the start you hope for and I was pretty happy with the result,” McGrotty said while acknowledging the support from his wife, Nicole, and children, Caitlin and Maddi; while also thanking his crew, Stan, Zac and Terry, for their help at the track.

“We would like to be able to repeat what happened at Mildura in Portland this week. If we can go along those lines and be consistent like we were at the Sunset Strip Nats, then we would be pretty happy with that.

“The Super Gas bracket is a very tough bracket, we run to a nominated time and anyone can be the winner on the day.

“In the past I have gone pretty well against a 6.30 index which is what we run at Portland. We will be focusing on qualifying well and hopefully going rounds. It is such a competitive bracket and it is always nice to come out on top!”

The Mill Park (Victoria) resident is a big fan of the Portland venue, which will host two rounds of the 18/19 Summit Racing Equipment Sportsman Series.

“Portland is one of the best tracks in the country, in my opinion some of the big tracks could really learn from it! It is a good place with a great atmosphere,” McGrotty said.

“We really like going there, we haven’t been for a while so we are really looking forward to heading there for the South Coast Nationals this week.”

The South Coast Nationals, round four of the 18/19 Summit Racing Equipment Sportsman Series, will be held at Portland’s South Coast Raceway in Victoria across Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 November, 2018.

More than 165 entrants have signed-up to the event. For full event information, visit www.southcoastraceway.com.au or visit www.andra.com.au
