North Queensland’s Palmyra Dragway is back in action following major upgrades to the racing surface and barriers, which had been badly damaged by a cyclone and flooding.

The Palmyra Drag Racing Club received government funding that allowed the track to lay a new hot mix surface down from just past the 60 foot mark (after the concrete) to 40 metres past the quarter-mile finish line. Upgrades to safety barriers were also undertaken to help with flood water mitigation in the long term.

A strong turn out of racers welcomed the new track, despite heatwave conditions. Luke Dahm from Rogue Snapper Photography was there to capture the action, if you’d like to purchase any of his pics you can email him at luke.dahms@yahoo.com.au.
