UPDATE: Fenech feeling fine after Pro Slammer accident

Pro Slammer driver Sam Fenech has provided an update the day after his massive braking area accident at Sydney Dragway.

The Lloyds Classic Car Auctions Camaro had just won the final round of Santo’s Summer Thunder when the parachutes failed to blossom after the 255mph run and Fenech went hard into the tyre bundle at the end of the braking area.

While the incident looked spectacular, Fenech emerged unhurt and was able to walk away from the car. Today he looks every bit as good as before he got into the car.

“I’ve had a lot of phone calls and a lot of messages and a lot of words of encouragement (since the accident),” Fenech said.

“Thankfully I am feeling really good today. I have no injuries that I know of, all the safety gear did its job. The track staff, the ambulance crew, everybody did an unreal job.

“Unfortunately the car is gone, but we had a really good win. As far as the team goes we are strong and everything is good, so thanks for all the well wishes.”
