The three-day version of Street Machine’s Drag Challenge event kicks off tomorrow at Willowbank Raceway. 130 of Australia’s toughest street cars went through scrutineering today, ready for racing to start at 9am tomorrow.

At the pointy end of the field, we have Terry Seng in his famous VC Commodore, Tony Webb in his CULPRIT LJ Torana and reigning champing Mark Van Der Togt in his XW Futura. All three run in the seven-second zone!

The Drag Challenge concept is based on the famous Hot Rod Drag Week event, with all competitors having to travel between track under their own steam, without support vehicles or tow cars.

For the first time, the Street Machine crew have added a six-cylinder class and 235 radial classes to cater for a wider variety of racers.

After racing finishes tomorrow at 3pm, the convoy will head to Warwick Dragway’s eighth-mile for day two on Sunday. The event will wrap up on the Monday public holiday back at Willowbank.

To make things more interesting, event director will take the racers on a 650km road trip between tracks, with mandatory check-points to ensure everyone follows the route.

Entry is $20 each day, with kids under 13 free.
