Mildura’s Darren Morgan was back in the seat of his Shannon’s Top Fuel Dragster over Easter (Saturday April 3) completing a series of test passes at The Edge Hotel / Motel Easter Shootout at the Sunset Strip in Mildura.

During his successful outing Darren reset the unofficial track record to 3.39 seconds at 224 mph, becoming the first driver to complete a 200 mph pass at the track along with recording the fastest ever 1/8 mile track pass in Australian Drag Racing history.

Throughout the evening the Darren Morgan Racing (DMR) Shannon’s Insurance Top Fuel car completed two passes with the Darren posting a 3.72 second run at 149 mph at his first attempt before stepping up to record a blistering 3.39 at 224 mph later in the night.

“The crowd loved seeing the Top Fuel dragster in full flight. We had a strong test session as it produced our best 60ft time in over 12 months. We also had strong incremental times through all sections of the track so it was very encouraging. The Track Crew did a great job of preparing the track and running a successful event. Once again I must thank Shannon’s for their support of the DMR Top Fuel Dragster” added Darren shortly after the event.

Two of the Morgan children were also on the track on Saturday night. Will was eliminated in the first round but Caitlyn faced off against Amy Patterson sister of team Tuner Ben Patterson in an all girl final. It was a close race with Caitlyn turning on the win light to cap off a great evening for the DMR team.

DMR not only had an on track presence at the Easter Shootout but they also catered for over 100 corporate guests at the event. The guest list included local investors, sponsors, family and friends. From all reports everyone who attended the event had a great time and they were extremely impressed with the professionalism of DMR.

DMR will now prepare for the ENZED Australian Top Fuel Championships which will be held between the 17-18th of April 2010 at the Willowbank Raceway, Queensland. The event will incorporate Round 5 of the Australian Top Fuel Championship. “After last weekend we believe that we are in a strong position heading into the next event. We collected some good data that we can now use at Willowbank at our next Championship round” added Team Owner/Driver Darren Morgan with a smile.

Along with each of their valued sponsors DMR would like to thank the additional support they received during the event from the Gateway Tavern, Star FM, XXXX Gold, Lencia Juice, Red Cliffs Foodworks, Coca Cola and Langtree Avenue Butchery.
