The future looks promising for young gun tuner Aaron Hambridge after debut with Lamattina Racing at the Nitro Champs at Sydney Dragway on April 30- May.
“We have come away from the weekend feeling confident and very pleased with our decision to appoint Aaron as Crew Chief” explained team principal Phil Lamattina. “We had a very short time to get a new team together and ready to race at the Nitros. The crew performed very well given it was their first time working on the car and they performed brilliantly turning the car around for each round. Performance wise we struggled but under the circumstances and the weather conditions we came away from the weekend in a very positive frame of mind. I am confident as a team we are moving forward in the right direction”.
“Spike” Gorr from the USA came out to oversee the tuning of the car and support Aaron in his debut of Top Fuel. The Gorr family is renown in the NHRA Drag Racing world for their extensive experience across all categories particularly in the development of fuel systems for drag cars.
“Spike was an invaluable asset to the team over the weekend” according to Aaron Hambridge. “His knowledge and willingness to share his experience was brilliant and I couldn’t have wished for a better teacher. We had to start from scratch with a new fuel system and clutch set up. So knowing in my debut I could draw on Spike’s twenty years of experience was reassuring. The team “really gelled” and threw themselves into the challenge of turning the car around quickly between the rounds. Their enthusiasm is a great sign moving forward. The weekend was a major learning curve for us all”.
