Excitement for East Coast Thunder is growing with a week of testing providing racers with a good base ahead of the weekend’s competition across the 400 Thunder pro and sportsman categories.

Scott MacLean has been testing all week long with his new Holden Monaro, running in Pro Slammer this weekend and refurbished Funny Car, running in Pro Alcohol. A 5.49/263 in the Funny Car was the best result of the week. The new DMPE engine combinations look to be strong.

Nitro Harley newcomer Adam Layton unfortunately didn’t complete his licensing for Top Bike, but he looks like being able to finish it off at the event.

Darren Morgan has been busy doing promotion ahead of the event including some unique esky match racing on the Today Show. He’s been back in the hot seat of the dragster today though, with crew chief Ben Patterson fine tuning.

Steven Ham recorded positive early figures, knocking out a pass with 3.66 to the eighth despite shutting off before the timing markers.

Rob Ambruosi had an all new combo and ran his fastest ever figures to half track, potentially a low 5.50 if the team had completed a full pass.

Tyrone Tremayne had the family’s new Camaro out on track and hut a 6.96/196mph on a warm 120 degree track.

Wayne Daley didn’t have the best day of testing in the Dodge, but the team said they were learning new things and it was better to try those out in testing than on race day. They still feel they have a strong base line for East Coast Thunder.

Wayne Price knocked out a positive 5.65/260mph from the Speed City Dodge Charger.

The Spinozzi Racing ex-Pro Stock Truck is looking the goods, running a 7.35/181mph, though this launch was a little smokey.

Brandon Gosbell is looking forward to throwing more boost into the Suzuki Hayabusa after a 7.60/184 pass.
