Australian Shane Tucker’s remarkable start to the NHRA season came to an end with a DNQ at Gainesville in the third event of the NHRA Mello Yello Series.

Tucker’s 6.61 best barely missed the 6.59 cut on a weekend where 6.4 second performances were the mark given cool conditions.

Particularly painful for Tucker was the final qualifying session where the brand new Auzmet Archutectural Camaro rolled the staging beams.

Tucker will now be returning home before resuming his NHRA campaign later in the season.

For fellow Queenslander Steve Harker things were better, qualifying fifth in Top Alcohol Funny Car with a 5.54/264. The good news continued into round one with Harker defeating Tony Bogolo with low ET of the round, a 5.52 at 263mph.
