Tyronne Tremayne ended an incredible Pro Stock winning streak from brother Aaron in Adelaide at the recent Southern Thunder event, the third round of the 2017/18 400 Thunder Pro Stock Championship.

In an odd weekend that saw the racing distance change from 1000 feet to an eighth mile due to high winds and dust, the Tremayne family and their Mega Fuels Pro Stock cars were leaders from the outset as the quickest two cars in testing before racing began.

Father and team owner Kerry Tremayne said by Saturday conditions were proving extremely difficult with the wind blowing grass and dusty through the pits and the track.

“With the wind playing havoc, a decision was made to start the 400 Thunder show at 6pm, hopefully with better conditions prevailing,” he said. “Not long after that was when the decision was made to reduce the racing distance to eighth mile racing due to dangerous conditions in the braking area where chutes were deployed.”

Round one saw Aaron Tremayne on a bye run, which he took in 4.56 seconds, equivalent to around a 7.1 on the full quarter mile. Tyronne took on veteran Bruce Leake, also using a 4.56 second time for the win and earning lane choice for the next round.

Round two would decide who was to appear in the final and with Jason Hedges laying down the gauntlet with another quick 4.56, the brothers had to back up their earlier passes to make it to the final. Aaron was the first to win, and with 4.56s proving popular and at three thousandths quicker than Hedges, he was the first man to seal a finals spot. Tyronne followed on and dropped a 4.54 to guarantee his place in a brother versus brother final round.

With lane choice, Tyronne took the right lane and though Aaron got the jump to 60 feet, after that it was tyre shake city and he had to abort the run, watching Tyronne break one of the longest winning streaks in Pro Stock.

“It was a deserved win for Tyronne, his car and his driving were faultless all weekend,” Kerry said.

The Tremaynes would like to thank their major sponsor Mega Fuels for their valued support as well as NxtGen Engineering, Aqualine Pools, Speedflow, Diamond Pistons, Total Seal Rings, CP-Carrillo, 6Boost and their crew: Meryl, Rolinia, Peta, Kerry, Robbie, Kyle and Brad.
